I found nothing cool in a box with a picture of fountain

The Tugendbrunnen (Fountain of Virtue), cast by Benedikt Wurzelbauer in the 1580s, combines Christian and classical ideals in bronze, with figures of Faith, Love, Hope, Courage, Temperance, and Patience rising toward Justice at the top. Once a working water source for the Lorenzer quarter, it was as practical as it was symbolic. The quirky detail that stuck with me is the crane at Lady Justice’s feet, symbolizing vigilance. Cranes were thought to guard themselves by holding a stone, if they dozed off, they’d drop it and wake up. A Renaissance reminder to stay alert, tucked into a fountain in the middle of the city.

I have visited Nuremburg during cold December month a couple times over the years. On both occasions I found the fountain monument covered up and protected from the elements so there was not much to see other than an image included on the wooden shell placed around the old fountain.

A splendid fountain formed from black Gothic sculptures in the place next to Lorenz church.

Except for its own valuable design, in fact it’s a ideal place to enjoy people watching
