Nürnberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Google Maps doesn’t get you here. My car gps couldn’t get us there. There are no signs on where to find the castle. There are no signs on where to park. I got lucky and finally got tickets. It is 10 euro for castle, tower and well. There’s nothing really left inside of the castle. It’s just a museum. And most of the signage is in German. I saw some people with audio guides, but I was never offered that. They make you wait to go inside to look down the well for some reason I can’t understand so that’s a waste of money. The only decent thing was going up in the tower which has nice views of the city. Good luck.

A magnificent historic castle towering over the beautiful city of Nuremberg! The opening hours were a bit tricky, and the inner courtyard was closed, but the experience was still excellent. There are wonderful views and you can walk around the interior areas; plus, there is a restaurant right before the castle entrance.

Perched majestically on a rock at the northern edge of Nuremberg's historic old town (Altstadt), this is much more than a single palace, actually, it feels like a small, fortified citadel or a medieval "village" built right on the cliff. Its construction began around 1000 AD, with the first official written mention in 1050 AD. It served as the residence of all German emperors from 1050 to 1571. The castle complex spans an impressive 220 meters in length and about 50 meters in width, developing across three main historical periods: > * 1027–1125: The first major fortifications. > * 1138–1254: Radical expansion, during which the magnificent Palas was built. (Note: The historic Palas was almost completely flattened by World War II bombings but has been faithfully and beautifully reconstructed post-war as a long building complex stretched across the rock). > * 15th–16th Century: The city of Nuremberg took over the castle, adding powerful bastions and the imperial stables. The estate is divided into three sequential sections separated by gates and courtyards. Highlights include the Burggraviate, the Imperial Castle buildings, the massive bastions, the Sinwell Tower, and the Deep We

Great visit! I really enjoyed exploring the castle 🏰 The experience is quite immersive, with beautiful rooms and a fascinating opportunity to discover the history of a place that has remained frozen in time. I appreciated that there were explanations available in English, as well as places to sit and take a break during the visit. The exhibition was also very varied, covering both the history of the castle and the city. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend the visit.

We did the introduction walking tour starting from the castle and eniat the Nuremberg Transport Museum. We spent quite sometime here at the castle and it was remarkable. Along the way, we also took some street photos, though the city was from the rebuilding after the war, it was felt historic.
