Hier gab es im Mittelalter ein Leprosenhaus um 1200. 1315 wurde dafür eine Kirche erbaut, die im 16. Jahrhundert spätgotisch erneuert wurde und inzwischen wunderschön restauriert worden ist . Die Kirche liegt in einem Park mit Bänken und alten Bäumen. Wenn kein katholischer Gottesdienst stattfindet, trennt ein Gitter innen vor dem Mittelschiff den Zugang. Innen eher schon im Renaissance-Stil mit Barock-Altar. Haltestelle der Tram 17 direkt vor der Kirche ist „Gasteig“.

St. Nikolai am Gasteig: Ein ruhiges, historisches Kleinod 🤩👍 Die St. Nikolai Kirche, auch Gasteigkircherl genannt, ist ein bezaubernder Ort der Ruhe, der sich wunderbar vom modernen Treiben des gegenüberliegenden Gasteig-Kulturzentrums abhebt. Das Kirchlein ist ein wichtiges Stück Münchner Geschichte: Ursprünglich im 14. Jahrhundert als Teil eines Leprosenhospitals gegründet, ist es heute ein charmantes Beispiel barocker Architektur. Man erkennt noch die Spuren des spätgotischen Chors, aber das Gesamtbild wird vom barocken Stil und der markanten Zwiebelhaube des Turms geprägt. Besonders sehenswert ist die direkt angeschlossene Altöttinger Loretokapelle. Die Kirche ist klein, aber fein und lädt zu einer kurzen, besinnlichen Pause ein. Wer sich für die historische Entwicklung Haidhausens interessiert und abseits der großen Touristenströme etwas Ruhe sucht, sollte hier unbedingt Halt machen. Ein Besuch lohnt sich! 👍

Die St. Nikolai Kirche ist eine aus dem 14. Jhd. stammender Sakralbau des ehemaligen Leprosenhauses. Wer sich wie ich gerade die Frage stellt was ein Leprosenhaus ist, dass war ein sog. „Siechhaus“ für Leprakranke. Wieder etwas gelernt 👍. An die Kirche angegliedert ist eine Kapelle, sowie eine dahinterliegende kl. Grünanlage.

Der Ursprung der Kirche liegt im 14. Jahrhundert, sie wurde allerdings öfters umgebaut. An der Kirche befindet sich zusätzlich eine Kapelle (Altöttinger Kapelle).
