München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Mass at St. Michael's in Munich was recommended by our hotel's receptionist because of "the beautiful music." The music at the 10 am service was magnificent thanks to a top-notch choir, soloists, orchestra, and organist. We heard a Schubert Mass, a rare treat. So even if you're not Christian, you will be moved. And the church is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture.

Yet another wonderful Church in Central München. St Michael has a lot of charm, and as one of the lesser popular Church's it is normally fairly quiet. Highly recommended

St. Michaels is a beautiful church in Karlplatz in Old Town Munich. Large edifice that is not overwhelming with too many details. Loved it.

If you are looking for a place of peace and architectural beauty, St. Michael Kirche is a must-visit. Whether you are stopping in for a moment of quiet reflection or to admire the historical craftsmanship, the atmosphere is incredibly grounding. The interior is stunning, characterized by a sense of openness and light that makes the intricate details of the altar and stonework stand out. It’s well-maintained and serves as a wonderful example of local heritage. Even during busy times in the city, stepping through the doors feels like entering a different world—one that is calm, cool, and welcoming to everyone. No ti ket needed when I was there.

St. Michael’s Church is an absolutely breathtaking place and a must-visit. From the outside, it already looks impressive, but once you step inside, it becomes truly mesmerizing. The architecture is grand and elegant, with a peaceful atmosphere that immediately makes you slow down and take it all in. The interior is stunning, with beautiful details, high ceilings, and a sense of history in every corner. It feels both powerful and serene at the same time. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just looking for a quiet moment away from the busy city, this church offers a truly special experience.

Entry is free into the church, but it's a few euros to see the royal tomb where König Ludwig rests. Beautiful church and the I thought it was worth paying a few euros to see the tomb.

A really beautiful church and well worth a visit. The interior is impressive, peaceful, and has a level of detail you don’t always see. What stood out most was the history—some of the fixtures and gaskets date back to the 1500s, which is incredible to see up close. If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend stopping in.

We really enjoyed visiting this beautiful historic church in the Old Town area of Munich. The crypt below is definitely worth exploring too as it is the final resting place of many members of the Bavarian royal family from the 16th to 20th centuries. The Church itself is an amazing sight inside and with artistic treasures all around. Its also a great place to worship and much less crowded with tourists than the Frauenkirche nearby.
