Nürnberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Nürnberg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

The memorial honors the city’s most famous son, Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer. Erected in the 19th century, the bronze statue shows Dürer in a dignified pose, fitting for his role as one of Europe’s greatest painters and printmakers. Standing in a lively square near his former home, it’s a fitting tribute that connects the city’s daily life with its rich artistic legacy.

This is a superb bronze statue of one of the world's finest artists, Albrecht Durer. It's in the center of the old town of Nuremberg. The statue towers above you as you stand next to it. The Albrecht Durer house is near the base of the castle keep, a few blocks above the townsquare that holds the bronze statue.

It is a bronze statue of the German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer, located in the Sebalder Altstadt of Nuremberg, Germany. The statue depicts Dürer standing with his right arm outstretched, holding a paintbrush and a quill pen. The location of the statue, in the heart of Nuremberg's old town, is perfect.

Nice statue. A lot of this statue actually survived the bombing of Nuremberg during WWII.

There are many statues scattered around the historic city centre of Nuremburg including the Albrecht Dürer Monument at Albrecht-Duerer-Platz and Bergstraße. This monument is the work of German sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch and was unveiled at this location in 1840. At that time, the square was a milk market. Albrecht Dürer was born in Nuremburg, lived here for numerous years and executed many of his famous works within the city. He is considered one of German's most important historical artists and his works are now found in important art museums and galleries around the western world. The bronze statue you see here reminds of his famous self portrait. Albrecht stands in a proud manner, much detail being applied to his face and flowing robes. The statue stands upon a simple stone pedestal with the artist's name. It is good monument of Dürer, one worth seeking out for a brief viewing before or after visiting the well preserved and restored Albrecht Durer House around 5 minutes walk from this location.
