München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

You must visit. This is the old town square.. the glockenspiel is part of this. Very gothic. There is so much to see, give yourself about an hour, go into the old square, see the plaques and tributes to the Olympic murders.

Munich old town central area and surroundings buildings, shops, people, and gothic figures. In March, the weather is nice and it's cold. People sitting around the central area people watching, busy with tourist and locals. The place is served by a few metro U station easily accessible from the central town.

On the grand façade of Munich’s Neues Rathaus, among saints, rulers, and stonework worthy of a Gothic cathedral, lurks something stranger; a dragon wriggling up the corner tower. This is the Wurmeck, or “Worm Corner,” a sculpted reminder of Munich’s favorite monster story. According to legend, in the early 16th century a Lindwurm, part worm, part dragon, hovered over the city, belching plague with every foul breath. The terrified townspeople finally mustered the courage to face it, waiting until the beast grew tired and collapsed at Schrannenplatz. With one well-aimed cannon shot, they brought the dragon down. The plague vanished, and the coopers (the Schäffler) famously danced in the streets to coax citizens back to life. Built into the 19th-century Rathaus by architect Georg von Hauberrisser, the Wurmeck shows this legend in stone reliefs: the dragon attacking, the people resisting, and finally the joyful Schäfflertanz. It’s equal parts grotesque, comical, and heroic, proving Munich doesn’t just tell history through kings and saints, but also through a dragon that once (supposedly) breathed pestilence over its rooftops.

The Wurmeck is a dragon sculpture located in main Munich square on southwest corner of Munich New Town Hall building. There’s a fascinating story behind that dragon. When the dragon came, people of Munich began dying of black death. Eventually, the people of Munich were saved when someone killed the dragon by hitting dragon's heart with a cannon. Just above the dragon is a sculpture celebrating people at the end. showing the people of Munich celebrating the end
