München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

A really great museum, showing us the lives and stories of the Sudenten Germans. We went from the first excitement of seeing all the interesting displays and learning history about this group of people to wondering why this museum of Sudenten Germans is in Munich instead of in Czech. Then it slowly showed us the reason: all the conflicts, wars, struggles and the later expulsions that this people went through, which made then have to restart their home here. A very emotional experience in the end for us. Really great museum with lots of real people life and artifacts. It tells the story of a group of people, both their ups and downs. Would highly recommend!

As a regular visitor to Munich over a number of years,I always meant to visit this museum and in February eventually did. Some years ago in the UK during the course of my work I met an elderly Jewish lady who is no longer with us. Her name was Erika Zuckermann and because she had a dialect during our conversation I asked her where she was from…obviously not originally British. She told me she was from the former Czechoslovakia and lived in the Sudetenland in a town called Cheb formerly known as Eger.I had a basic knowledge of the pre war and wartime history of the region and we got in to conversation. She was pleased to be able to talk of what was her home country and that I had a knowledge of incidents like Lidice. She painted a picture of her childhood in Eger telling me she with other children used to all help with the washing and hang it out on a hillside to dry. She also told me how frightened she was when the area SA leader Henlein was in the area. She said all the Jewish children were frightened of him. She told me that her mother had taken her to Prague to live prior to the occupation of the Sudetenland leaving her father in Eger. They had stayed in Prague for some time the

I was recently part of a large tour group and we all stayed at a hotel on the same street as this museum. When I saw it was open once we arrived, I immediately went, as I can't resist a museum. Despite some language challenge, we were able to buy tickets, get a map of the building and understand its best to start at the top floor and work your way down. There is an elevator. I knew very little of the history of the timeline of these collections, so it was rather interesting learning through pieces and their descriptions, many of which had an English translation. We spent about 1.5 hours here. It was quiet, very clean, easy to navigate, and architecturally interesting.

The entrance is 1 euro on Sunday. I was astonished by the simplicity the way this museum is designed and the quantity of information you get when you go from the 3rd floor till the underground. All these floors are linked to history between Czechia and Germany and the south germans population in between who migrated to Bavaria especially. The museum is divided from homeland and faith, economy/culture, Nationalism, Loss/Expulsion, Post war period and a special exhibition of wooden collections from an artist. with clean toilets and a cafeteria and halls for events and special discussions. located in a very calm area and the staff very friendly and helpful on all the floors. you can follow the marks on the ground to get the full round about tour with audios and be on the right timeline. very recommended and you could spend 1 hour or more in this amazing place.
