About Residenz Museum
Prunk- und Wohnräume der Residenz München vom 16. bis 19. Jahrhundert
Residenz Museum is a museen in München, Bayern. It is listed at Residenzstraße 1, 80333 München-Altstadt-Lehel, which places it among the local businesses of München that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
For a night out or a family day in München, venues like this one are best checked for opening times and events on the day itself, since programmes change. The season matters: beer gardens open from April into October, Christmas markets run through Advent, and open-air cinemas and festivals fill the summer. U-Bahn and S-Bahn services run through the night at weekends in the big cities, with night buses elsewhere, so plan the trip home.
Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 9 am–6 pm. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 29067219. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, residenz-muenchen.de.
Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 4,882 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded museen & galerien in München.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Beautiful museum. 100 rooms for 10€ per person. Very good deal. So many rooms to explore. I would advise that it’s better to visit on a weekday and early on to prevent larger groups of people. Only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t inform us before that backpacks weren’t allowed and one person from our family members couldn’t enter because she didn’t want to give staff her backpack with her personal belongings which is normal. So a ticket was basically wasted. Anyway, beautiful place, very worth exploring just don’t have a backpack with you.

I would say one of the most incredible palaces in the world. 130 amazing rooms!! We walked through quite quickly, yet it still took us around 3 hours (including treasury). The entry fee is a bargain given what you see. I had no idea this is hidden in the city centre of Munich. Amazing!!

The Munich Residenz was one of the highlights of my trip. The architecture, beautifully decorated rooms, and incredible jewelry collection were absolutely breathtaking. Every room is full of history and amazing details. I especially enjoyed taking my time to admire the textures, ceilings, and craftsmanship. If you love history, art, and architecture, this is a place you shouldn't miss.

The Munich Residenz Museum is one of Europe's grandest palace complexes, from Bavaria's ruling monarchs — originally built for royal banquets and with painted ceilings Separate from the main museum, the Treasury houses over 1,200 priceless artifacts including the Bavarian crown jewels, crystal, and ivory pieces accumulated over centuries. The museum stands as an unparalleled window into Bavarian royal life, ideally located in central Munich. Allow two to three hours minimum for a rewarding visit.

Definitely worth the visit and at least get the combo ticket to see the treasury. Bathrooms scattered throughout with signs leading you the way. Many many rooms to see with some very ornate architecture and paintings. The treasury is awesome with the first few rooms being the best. We spent about 4 hours here!
