About NS-Dokumentationszentrum München

Located at Max-Mannheimer-Platz 1, 80333 München-Maxvorstadt, NS-Dokumentationszentrum München operates as a museen serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as historisches museum, sehenswürdigkeit, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Entertainment and cultural venues fill up at weekends, on public holidays and during school holidays, so check opening times and book tickets ahead where possible. Most museums close on Mondays, many state theatres and opera houses pause over the summer, and the Kulturpass gives 18-year-olds a budget to spend on culture. Ask about age limits and whether photography is allowed.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 10 am–7 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 089 233767000. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, nsdoku.de.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 3,430 reviews, which is a strong result for a museen in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We are not museum people, but here we stayed over 4 hours.Focus for me was the history of the nazi party, and amongst many things learned how BMW used forced labor during the war and generated great profits . Lots of excellent information presented in different ways including chronological

Absolutely speechless. Incredibly preserved objects from the Nazi era. A really moving combination of modern and historic war exhibitions. The information was vast, thorough, and broken up into key time frames which allowed you to literally walk through time. We would advise starting from the top floor and working your way down in order to view the exhibitions chronologically. Entry is free.

NS-Dokumentationszentrum in Munich offers a powerful and informative exhibition about the rise of Nazism in the city where it began. Modern, well-organized, and free to enter, it provides deep historical insight through interactive displays and authentic stories. A must-visit for understanding Munich’s past and Europe’s history.

Great museum about the history of nazism in the middle of the historical Nazi locations. There were the largest Nazi mass protests and gatherings, the Nazi headquarters and many other Nazi buildings and instituitions only a few dozen meters away from this museum. Be prepared to read a LOT!
