München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

Excellent staff, but the room undercuts everything Arrival was a pleasure and the staff were consistently good throughout the stay: well trained, attentive, professional at every point of contact. That's the part the hotel has right, and it's worth saying plainly before the rest. The room is another matter, and at this price point and brand it's hard to overlook. The bed was lumpy and even was tilted in one direction. For a hotel in this category, that's the one thing that shouldn't need saying. The bathroom opens into the room in a way that leaves almost no privacy. It's a design choice some hotels have made, and it doesn't work for two people sharing a room. Worse, the ventilation isn't adequate for that layout. Moisture from the bathroom had nowhere to go, and the bedding was damp. In many years of travel I've never encountered that before. An open-plan bathroom demands extraction that actually works; this one doesn't have it. The furniture and fittings feel neglected. The chairs were uncomfortable to sit in, and the TV channel lineup looks like it hasn't been touched since the 1990s. The service standard here is genuinely high, which makes the state of the rooms all the

I have stayed at Sofitel Munich several times over the years, but unfortunately my recent experiences have been very disappointing. The biggest issue has been the air conditioning. I experienced the same problem during my stay in 2024, and again in 2026. Despite a technician visiting my room, the issue could not be resolved, and the only solution offered was a fan. This is simply not acceptable for a hotel that advertises itself as a five-star property. The service has also declined noticeably. Room service was difficult to reach, and when they did answer the phone, I had to follow up multiple times before anything happened. It took over an hour just to receive a bottle of water, which was eventually delivered by a security staff member instead of room service. Overall, the hotel feels understaffed and in need of renovation and better maintenance. Based on my recent stays, it no longer delivers the level of comfort and service expected from a luxury hotel. It is especially disappointing because I have chosen this hotel three or four times in the past and genuinely wanted to continue staying here. Unfortunately, after two consecutive stays with the same unresolved issues, this w

We had a wonderful stay at Sofitel Munich. The hotel is beautiful, modern, and very well maintained. Our room was comfortable, and the overall service was excellent. The breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay, with a great selection of fresh, high-quality options. The location is convenient, especially being right next to the main train station, making it easy to get around. The only downside was the amount of construction in the area, which made the surroundings less appealing than expected. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants and the city center. While they aren't immediately outside the hotel, everything was easily manageable on foot. We also had a rental car, which made getting around even more convenient. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.
