About Platzl

Located at Bräuhausstraße, Pfisterstraße, 80331 München, Platzl operates as a schlösser serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

For a night out or a family day in München, venues like this one are best checked for opening times and events on the day itself, since programmes change. The season matters: beer gardens open from April into October, Christmas markets run through Advent, and open-air cinemas and festivals fill the summer. U-Bahn and S-Bahn services run through the night at weekends in the big cities, with night buses elsewhere, so plan the trip home.

Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are Open 24 hours. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 23396500. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is platzl.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 112 reviews, which is a strong result for a schlösser in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

Platzl is an absolute must-visit spot when exploring Munich! Located just a short stroll from Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, and the elegant Maximilianstraße, this historic cobblestone square is always full of life, energy, and authentic Bavarian charm. The architecture here is stunning… a collection of picturesque, historic buildings that you can’t help but admire and capture on photo. Notable landmarks reside here, including the historic Hofbräuhaus am Platzl and the site of the former Theater am Platzl, which add so much heritage and character to the square. Whether you're looking to enjoy traditional Bavarian food, grab a pretzel, or sip a beer at one of the famous taverns and lively beer gardens around, the atmosphere is simply unmatched. A perfect place to walk through, soak in the culture, and admire the beautiful surroundings!

If you are a beer lover, this is your paradise. An old bar, dating back to around 1589. Several large rooms with 1 liter beers for around 10.5 euros. Of course, it has very good and quality food, especially the roast chicken.

The Hofbräuhaus am Platzl is a beer hall in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, originally built in 1589 by Bavarian Duke Maximilian I as an extension of the Staatliches Hofbräuhaus in München brewery. The general public was admitted in 1828 by Ludwig I. The building was completely remodeled in 1897 by Max Littmann when the brewery moved to the suburbs. All of the rooms except the historic beer hall ("Schwemme") were destroyed in the World War II bombings. The reopening of the Festival Hall in 1958 marked the end of the post-war restoration work.

Quite a nice and vibrant space. Always a vibe with people passing by, eating and having drinks.

Platzl is a small public square at the end of Orlandostraße where you find the world famous 16th-century beerhall, Hofbräuhaus. Other restaurants with alfresco dining and retail shops, including quite a few Schubeck shops, fill in the tightly compacted townhouses at Platzl. Overall, Platz is a nice little place to spend a few minutes viewing the attractive buildings in the area and having a beer or two at Hofbräuhaus.
