München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

It is the focal point of Munich town square. Twice per day (addition one at 5pm from Mar-Oct) animated mechanical performances showcase two 16th century events, feature with bells and life-size figures. The ending performance by a very small golden rooster is not easy to catch, it took me couple of times to catch it. Haha.

A true icon of Munich and one of those places that instantly takes your breath away. Every visitor stops here, takes photos, and admires the incredible architecture - and for good reason. The atmosphere on the square is amazing, but my advice is: don’t just admire it from the outside. Step inside and explore the interior as well. Most tourists never go beyond the photos, but the building has so much more to offer. Fun fact: the famous Glockenspiel in the tower has been entertaining visitors since 1908 and remains one of Munich’s most beloved landmarks. A must-see that perfectly captures the spirit and history of the city.

Rathaus-Glockenspiel is a beautiful and iconic attraction in the heart of Munich. The clock show is charming and the architecture around Marienplatz is stunning. Definitely worth seeing if you’re visiting the city!

The Rathaus-Glockenspiel is a large mechanical clock located in Marienplatz Square, in the heart of Munich, Germany. Famous for its life-size characters, the clock twice daily re-enacts scenes from Munich's history. First is the story of the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V to Renata of Lorraine in 1568, followed by the story of the Schäfflertanz, also known as the coopers' dance.

My wife and I stopped here on our way to Egypt. It’s a very busy place with lots of shops from food to high end jewelry. There’s a street that has a nice breitling watch store on it and some other places. If you enjoy watches and clocks like I do you will love this. It feels very historic as it is. If you’re American you can easily take an Uber here but beware if you do not speak German you may find yourself in a pickle and WiFi can be hard to locate or non existent so keep that in mind and grab yourself an E SIM card for your phone if you plan on staying a while. The food is really great in the area. There’s a ton to do if you get dropped off near here such as bars and snchitzel. Cool place to see, lovely fountain. Wish we could have visited a bit longer.
