München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The Karlstor at Karlsplatz (Stachus) is one of Munich's old city gates. This historical landmark can get very busy during the day. Most beautiful and peaceful place for people to relax, hangout and meet new friends. Conveniently located in the Karlsplatz station that you can connect and visit other places in Munich. You will notice a fair amount of people who have no homes perhaps sleeping, begging for money, drinking booze or simply just soaking it all in like the rest of us. Karlstor will lead you eventually to other stops that you may wish to see like Marienplatz.

It is a busy circle with Mc Donald and Starbucks right in each corner. Good area to walk around and there are some old historic building. No tickets or entrence fee.

This is a surviving medieval gate that once formed part of the second city wall around Old Town in Munich. it was constructed between 1285-1347 and was later renamed after Elector Karl Theodore in 1797. You'll find a three arch entryway while the structure rebuilt after being heavily damaged during WWII. It is a nice entryway into Old Town for those arriving from Hbf or the transportation hub here at Karlsplatz.

Cool piece of architecture leading from the fountain into the market area of Karlplatz.
