München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

From the walk to the views, the trip back to the waterfall is worth it. Amazing photo opportunities and shaded benches make it a refreshing stopping point in a much greater hike through the woods

The Great Cascades (Große Kaskade) is located at the western end of Schlosspark Nymphenberg. This is another attractive and peaceful area to spend time at Nymphenberg. What you find here is a series of three cascading pools that feed water into the Central Canal which runs towards the palace. The pools are lined with statues. There are heavily wooded areas on both sides of the cascades and shaded park benches for those who want to take a break here. It is an nice place to visit if you plan to explore the Schloss Nymphenberg grounds. The only negative would be the large quantities of algae that filled in much of the pools that we found during our June visit. This was something we didn't see a lot of within the canal or the lakes within the park.
