About Odeonsplatz

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

Odeonsplatz is truly a magnificent and grand square where you can admire an incredible collection of historic landmarks all in one place. Framed by the stunning Theatinerkirche, the majestic entrance to the former royal Residenz, the Hofgarten, and the surrounding neoclassical architecture, it offers an unforgettable atmosphere between the Old Town and Maxvorstadt. (The Feldherrnhalle is currently undergoing extensive restoration work with scaffolding expected to remain until 2028, but the square, the surrounding streets, and the nearby churches and gardens remain fully accessible and well worth exploring)

Odeonsplatz is a beautiful square and one of the best photo spots in Munich. The architecture is stunning, and the whole area has a unique and elegant atmosphere. It’s a great place to take a break, admire the historic buildings, and capture some amazing photos. Definitely worth stopping by while exploring the city.

Exploring this place was a beautiful experience. What struck me the most was how alive it felt with music and art. Seeing young people playing the piano and singing created a wonderful atmosphere that made the place feel unique and full of life. It wasn’t just about the architecture or the surrounding, it was the people expressing their talent that made the experience truly memorable. If you visit, take your time to stop, listen, and enjoy the performances. They are part of what makes this place so special.

Odeonsplatz was one of those spots that just felt grand the moment I stepped in. The whole place has this open, majestic vibe with beautiful historic buildings all around. It’s not overly crowded like some other spots, you can just walk around and take it in at your own pace. The yellow Theatinerkirche really stands out and adds so much character to the square. And right next to it, the Hofgarten area is perfect if you want a quick peaceful walk. I didn’t plan to spend much time here, but ended up just roaming around, clicking pictures, and soaking in the vibe. It’s simple, but something about it just feels very “Munich.” Not too busy, not too quiet, just the right kind of place to slow down for a bit while exploring the city.

Taking the sub way metro train and getting out at Odeansplatz station. Took some videos of the train platform area and train passenger inside and exiting the sub way train. At the street level, you will be welcome into a large town centre with shops all around. In March, the weather of 2°Celsius was nice and comfortable- coming from an Asian country. Nice music were played by a street performers.
