For a night out or a family day in München, venues like this one are best checked for opening times and events on the day itself, since programmes change. The season matters: beer gardens open from April into October, Christmas markets run through Advent, and open-air cinemas and festivals fill the summer. U-Bahn and S-Bahn services run through the night at weekends in the big cities, with night buses elsewhere, so plan the trip home.

Opening hours have not been published for this listing yet. Most businesses of this type in München keep standard hours, but call ahead to be sure, especially on the weekly Ruhetag, on Sundays and over the Christmas and Easter holidays. The listed phone number is 089 21910. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, mvg.de.

Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 1,742 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded museen & galerien in München.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Good museum for kids. For adults it is little boring to see and read information.

Check date always This is a fantastic museum for transport enthusiasts, but keep in mind that it’s generally only open to the public one day a year (or on very specific open days). However, a great way to see it at other times is to visit when they host a Flohmarkt (flea market) on the premises. It’s a cool atmosphere to see the old trams and buses while browsing the stalls. Always check their official calendar before planning your trip!

I was glad I found out about this place on my last day in Munich, which also happened to be one of the open days. How great to take a dedicated tram right to the front door. Great collection of Munich’s public transport history. I especially enjoyed the upstairs artwork gallery.

Great museum and exhibition! You have to check out opening days in advance on their site.

A very interesting museum. A big collection of old trams and buses and things related to their maintenance. They have also some temporary exhibitions. One of them related to space is very exciting. A cafe with a good variety of dishes, drinks and cakes is a pleasant supplement to a museum visit.
