About Münchner Freiheit

Located at Münchner Freiheit 20, 80802 München-Schwabing-Freimann, Münchner Freiheit operates as a sehenswürdigkeiten serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

When booking accommodation or travel services in Germany, confirm the check-in window, whether the rate includes breakfast and the local city tax (Kurtaxe or Bettensteuer), and what the cancellation terms are; pensions and Gasthöfe are often family-run and appreciate notice. Reviews that mention noise, bed size, Wi-Fi and cleanliness are usually the most useful. Prices jump around trade fairs, the Christmas markets, Oktoberfest and the summer school holidays, so book early for those dates.

As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 0800 344226600. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is muenchen.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 4,733 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded sehenswürdigkeiten & wahrzeichen in München.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Cool place to watch people. One of the best melting pots in Munich. A 'must' for me mum three times a week. Hard to explain, biut you'll understand once you're there

I cannot speak to the Christmas market, which is probably very nice. I was here in June and relatively speaking, it can be a mildly seedy area. Walk further south on Leopoldstrasse for much better shops and places for a coffee or a beer although a bit more touristy. There were police stationed about every two blocks between the nicer area and this place. Not sure what that means, but possibly for people coming from the north part towards the south. I can say there seemed to be more ethnic restaurants around this area.

We went there following a recommendation to enjoy a good beer while watching an important soccer game. We expected to find many places packed with bayern fans lifting the atmosphere. strangely there was only one over crowded pub that projected the game on a small screen. The area itself offers some nice restaurants and can be pleasant to walk around.

Great atmosphere at the Christmas market 8n the town square. Smaller than the central market in the centre of Munich, but also not so crowded and more local!
