When booking accommodation or travel services in Germany, confirm the check-in window, whether the rate includes breakfast and the local city tax (Kurtaxe or Bettensteuer), and what the cancellation terms are; pensions and Gasthöfe are often family-run and appreciate notice. Reviews that mention noise, bed size, Wi-Fi and cleanliness are usually the most useful. Prices jump around trade fairs, the Christmas markets, Oktoberfest and the summer school holidays, so book early for those dates.
Opening hours have not been published for this listing yet. Most businesses of this type in München keep standard hours, but call ahead to be sure, especially on the weekly Ruhetag, on Sundays and over the Christmas and Easter holidays. With 4.0 out of 5 on Google from 818 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for hotels in München. German customers tend to review sparingly and critically, so a mid-range score with detailed comments is often a fair picture.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

We booked the Penthouse suite, which is a cutely designed room with 3 levels with a TV on each level and a lovely open terrace on the top terrace. Jacuzzi was nice and decently-sized. Overall, a spacious room. The hotel's main advantage is its location. Its very close to the city centre and all the useful tourist and transport zones while still being on a lane that is itself very quiet, pretty and full of cafes. The Isar river is walking distance from the hotel and the walk alongside it is quite pleasant. But there are several things on the downside too. The 3 level design of the room soon becomes a burden as you are going up and down steps all day. 2 of 3 TVs did not work and the technician couldn't fix it. The hotel has no room service. Even rudimentary administrative services (coffee pods, tea sachets, etc) are slow and burdensome to get. Most of time, we just went down 4 floors and fetched things ourselves. Reception staff was polite but nothing more. Not the kind of welcome you expect at a hotel (especially when you have booked the topmost suite in the hotel). Other than the two at the desk, no one spoke English.

The room itself was pretty nice. The bed was comfortable, there was a lot of space in the maisonette room, and there are good hotel amenities such as washers (no dryers, however). Unfortunately our arrival was in the middle of the most recent heatwave, and although there was an air conditioner in the room, it did not work well. I requested someone to look at it, and he was nice, but he just cleaned the filter (which I already tried), and it made no difference. It got to 30⁰C in our room, which was basically unsleepable. I asked reception for some help, any help, and I was told that the Whirlpool AC was "not an air conditioner," and instead, an "air circulation machine." I'm not sure what kind of machine that is only made to circulate air has temperature control and a setting for "cool," but okay. I was lied to obviously, and the only solution was to put bowls of ice in front of the AC and two fans, which helped to cool the room a couple degrees. The whole building seems to be very poorly ventilated, and was not an enjoyable stay.

This is a very nice hotel, with various amenities for a longer stay. It is conveniently located close to the Baldeplatz stop of the City Ring bus line as well as a 15 min walk from the U-Bahn station Goetheplatz (which matters since U-Bahn is the most reliable and fastest transportation in Munich). There are washers and dryers in the basement that are easy to use through an app but you have to pay for every wash. The sauna was great too. Each room has a well-equipped kitchenette but it's really tiny, don't expect any big cooking done there. I also appreciated having a safe in the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had two separate stays because I travelled elsewhere for two days in-between but they still agreed to store my luggage at the reception while I was away. I must say, however, that the second room I got wasn't as nice as the first one.
