München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Shame, so many people wanted to have good fortune and touched her so much.

This graceful bronze statue of Juliet Capulet is tucked beside the Old Town Hall at Marienplatz. A gift from Verona in 1974, it’s become one of Munich’s charming photo-op traditions. As a popular stop, you’ll find couples and solo travelers alike pausing for a snapshot. Flowers are often placed in Juliet’s hand, and her right breast, shiny from countless pats, is said to bring luck in love. Whether you’re wandering through the Altstadt or making a spontaneous romantic gesture, this statue is a small delight worth that moment of attention.

The Juliet Capulet statue in Munich is a surprising find in the heart of the city, tucked away near the Old Town Hall. A gift from Verona, this bronze statue is a symbol of love and romance, similar to the one in Juliet’s hometown. One of the statue’s quirks is the tradition of rubbing Juliet’s right breast for good luck in love—a ritual that has left it noticeably shinier than the rest of the statue! While it may not be a major historical landmark, it’s a fun and unique stop, especially for couples or those who enjoy Shakespearean lore.

This is a Juliet Capulet statue. As you can tell by the photo the right side of the statue is very shiny. We asked why and it is continuously rubbed by visitors because it is supposed to give the person that does it good luck in finding your one and only true love. While we were standing there looking at the statue we saw both men and women come up and rub that area quite a few times.

This bronze statue is of Shakespeare’s heroine from Romeo and Juliet and was a gift from the city of Verona in 1974. It's a like-sized statue and depicts her standing with a neutral expression and wearing a long thin gown. The statue is fairly popular with tourists and locals alike, who like to rub her right breast for good luck. Something that makes the statue stand out as her right breast has a notable shine compared to the rest of the statue. People also like to garnish her with flowers.
