About Hotel Torbräu

Located at Tal 41, 80331 München-Altstadt-Lehel, Hotel Torbräu operates as a hotel serving München in Bayern. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

When booking accommodation or travel services in Germany, confirm the check-in window, whether the rate includes breakfast and the local city tax (Kurtaxe or Bettensteuer), and what the cancellation terms are; pensions and Gasthöfe are often family-run and appreciate notice. Reviews that mention noise, bed size, Wi-Fi and cleanliness are usually the most useful. Prices jump around trade fairs, the Christmas markets, Oktoberfest and the summer school holidays, so book early for those dates.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Stayed in the Hotel Torbrau for four nights. Many great things about the hotel. Perfect location right next to a major S-bahn station and only a few blocks from many of Munich's main tourist attractions. Despite the central location, it's quite quiet and the hotel soundproofing is exemplary. I booked one of the deluxe doubles on the top floor. Room was generous in size and the bed and chairs were very comfortable, though the gabled roof did reduce headroom a bit near the windows. Looked out on a quiet courtyard with distant views of the church towers behind other buildings. Electric miniblinds worked well but not a full backout. Air conditioning worked perfectly, which was critical during a heatwave. Front desk staff were really friendly and happy to help or suggest things to do. The breakfast buffet was amazing--generous, diverse and delicious--made it my day's main meal. It was really nice to eat breakfast out on the balcony. I had only two concerns. The wifi was spotty in the room, though it usually worked. More seriously, there are stairs to reach the elevator in the lobby and also multiple steps to the bathtub in the generously proportioned bathroom. If you are mobility limi
