When booking accommodation or travel services in Germany, confirm the check-in window, whether the rate includes breakfast and the local city tax (Kurtaxe or Bettensteuer), and what the cancellation terms are; pensions and Gasthöfe are often family-run and appreciate notice. Reviews that mention noise, bed size, Wi-Fi and cleanliness are usually the most useful. Prices jump around trade fairs, the Christmas markets, Oktoberfest and the summer school holidays, so book early for those dates.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Very nice hotel. I stayed here for one night. The bed and shower were excellent, and the room at the back of the hotel was very quiet. There is a parking garage, which I highly recommend. For €20, it was great after a long journey to be able to leave the car safely and go straight to the room. What impressed me the most were the two young gentlemen at the reception desk. They were very professional, pleasant, and genuinely interested in helping guests. Special compliments to the reception staff for their outstanding service.

I had a great stay at Hotel Rivoli and would definitely book it again when I’m back in Munich. Everything was smooth and hassle-free from check-in to check-out. The staff were very friendly, and always happy to help whenever I needed anything. The location is excellent, with easy access to public transportation, making it convenient to explore the city. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it’s comfortable, well maintained, and fairly priced. For me, it had everything I needed, and I’d happily book it again on my next trip to Munich.

The staff were very helpful, and the location was excellent-within walking distance of the U-Bahn and S-Bahn, with the old town reachable in about 15 minutes. There is a Lidl nearby as well as several restaurants. The bed was large and comfortable. A strong sewage smell was coming from the bathroom and could be noticed throughout the entire room, even with the door closed. The furnishings are old and may not have been renovated recently, but you still have everything you need.
