München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. This hotel is in the heart of Munich, and it is brilliant. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. The staff are great, and there's an elevator should the stairs be too much, although it is tiny. Breakfast was good and decently priced for Munich. This will be my go to hotel should I go back to Bavaria.

Location, location, location. The best part of this hotel is how close it is to all things that matter. Location is certainly a huge plus. The rooms were fine and the bathrooms were clean and updated. The only major drawback is the lack of air conditioning or having access to a fan. Even on a cool day, it can get quite warm in the room. There is an elevator which is a benefit for being on a high floor as we were. Just note that it’s big enough for two people only with no baggage or one person and baggage. It’s super small. In all, we were happy we chose Hotel am Markt as the place we stayed while in Munich.

Great hotel! Decent rooms, modern and clean. They are small but well organized. Price was decent for Munich, also the location is amazing just a few steps to Marienplatz. Great if it’s your first time in Munich. Breakfast was extra 15 euros per day per person which felt like a lot. Besides that we really liked the hotel and the staff was very very nice and helpful.

Excellent hotel in an absolutely perfect location just above the market. There is also only about a 5 minute walk to the large train station below Marienplatz as well as a 2 block walk to a tram stop. The rooms were decent sized given the age of the building. The bathroom was quite spacious as well. The windows open and there is a heating unit in both the room and bathroom.
