München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

The fact that the hotel was old and not very clean wasn’t a big issue for us. We knew what to expect before we arrived. What really bothered us was the attitude of the elderly man at the reception. When we walked in, we told him that we had a reservation. Instead of greeting us or asking politely, he replied, “Okay, but what’s your name? We have many reservations ” in a rude and dismissive tone. It wasn’t funny at all. If you don’t want to put up with disrespectful behavior, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I enjoyed staying here. My room was beautiful and had everything i needed and was clean. Few things that was noticeable but not an issue was that my room was not cleaned during my stay and the elevator is a very interesting experience. It’s definitely perfectly located, walking distance from the tourist areas but not close enough to be noisy. Breakfast is worth the extra euro. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very well located, it allows you to visit Munich on foot. In an affordable price range, this hotel offers the amenities you would expect: quality bedding, classic services and decent room size, as well as some nice extras: a classic Western breakfast of good quality and a very friendly receptionist.
