München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

Some truly amazing exhibits in a beautifully minimalist setting where the architecture is in complete harmony with the artworks. Small but well worth the visit, especially on a Sunday when tickets are a steal. There's also a nice no-frills café with seating in the courtyard.

Excellent customer service, great if you're looking for something quick to do and like sculptures, they sell several replicas as well, we visited on a Sunday so it only cost 1€ and it's definitely worth visiting since there are many such museums within a short walking distance.

The Glyptothek, commissioned by King Ludwig I, is Munich's oldest public museum and a masterpiece of Neoclassical architecture. Designed by Leo von Klenze, this temple-like structure houses an unparalleled collection of Greek and Roman sculptures. Its crown jewel is undoubtedly the Barberini Faun, a breathtakingly realistic Hellenistic marble statue of a sleeping satyr, radiating a raw, naturalistic energy. Another highlight is the Aeginetans, the pediment sculptures from the Temple of Aphaia, which showcase the fascinating transition from the stiff Archaic style to the fluid dynamism of the Early Classical period. Walking through the austere, vaulted halls where the statues are bathed in natural light, I felt a profound sense of timelessness. The lack of modern clutter allows the white marble to speak for itself. Witnessing these ancient figures, I was struck by the realization that while empires crumble, the human pursuit of beauty and anatomical perfection remains an eternal constant, leaving me with a lingering feeling of quiet awe.

Another or the neoclassical buildings done by Leo von Klenze. I would totally recommend to go if You are visiting is part of Munich history and it has a very clear structure where you walk and time passes by without you noticing. Talking about the exposition and the museum itself. I think it is well structured and it gives the exposition space to breathe. I personally like to go there and draw. The entry on Sundays costs only one euro! So why not go?

What a gem of a museum and ridiculously cheap entrance fee. The museum is beautifully laid out with a clockwise route and masses of useful information in English. The sculpture collection is not large but don’t be concerned as it contains so many Greek & Roman masterpieces that you will still spend a lot of time admiring them. We will return before we go back home.

The museum is admittedly somewhat small but their collection is amazing with statues ranging from Hermes to homer. The archicture is amazing and the atmosphere is great. They have useful boards in both English and German. Great time and on Sunday only €1.
