About Alpines Museum
Alpines Museum is a museen in München, Bayern. It is listed at Praterinsel 5, 80538 München-Altstadt-Lehel, which places it among the local businesses of München that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. For a night out or a family day in München, venues like this one are best checked for opening times and events on the day itself, since programmes change. The season matters: beer gardens open from April into October, Christmas markets run through Advent, and open-air cinemas and festivals fill the summer. München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Very nice place to spend some time - weather it is relaxing outside in the beautiful garden with some beer or tea or enjoying the nice exhibition inside. The staff is also very friendly.

I can see that the museum will not be everyone’s cup tea, and that’s why you should enjoy the garden, the coffeehouse and library if you really want enjoy your time there. The museum is more of an exhibit of different items, photographs … like a gallery. The staff are very nice and the building is nice. I would go there again for the coffeehouse and outdoors area which is fun.

Beautifully renovated neoclassical building, reopened for visitors in March'24. Back in 19th century it was an architectural gem and renowned cafe Isarlust. Stunning surroundings with Isar river right at the doorstep and St Lukas church across it. Space is very well though through and accommodates a small atmospheric cafe, library, 2 floors of exhibitions and plenty of natural light. 2 current exhibitions are dedicated to history of DAV & mountain climbing in the area as well as nicely put timeline of renovation & history. Visited as a part of Internationaler Museumstag, therefore free admission, but 6 EUR general price would probably need to be reduced before other exhibitions are set up, as there is definitely more to this space. Overall loved it!
