For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 6 am–6 pm. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Konditorei-Cafe Markus on 089 28804909; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp. Its website is konditorei-markus.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating stands at 3.0 out of 5 from 130 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I wish we had seen the other comments for this place earlier. The old lady was outright racist. German isn’t our first language but we always order food and stuff in German because it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to be able to do that. She was extremely rude towards us and even made fun of our way of pronouncing words right in front of us. On top of all that, the cake we got (Frankfurter Kranz) was poor too. We’ll definitely never go there again and I don’t recommend this place to anybody that isn’t blonde with a native German accent.

The saleswoman was extremely rude when I ordered a slice of cake. She then shouted at the next customer, who was ordering a pastry in German, because of their foreign accent. After the customer left, the saleswoman continued to insult them, referring to them as “foreign pigs.” That's absolutely crazy.

Perhaps the rudest experience I had in Germany. The elderly lady working there is extremely rude and pretended not to understand me while I was speaking in German. Was so insulting - had to walk out without buying anything. If I could give 0 stars, I would

I’d give this place zero point if it was possible. The old service lady there was incredibly rude and unfriendly. My three-year-old son wanted to sit on the chair for his cake, and the door started to close by itself. Then, she started to comment on my son’s bad behavior and my parenting. Seriously, it bothered me how she commented. After that, she came to the door and pushed my son away! That rudeness totally pissed me off. I said that we didn’t even touch the door. She started to explain to me that the house was built after the war and everything is old. Honestly, I never ever experienced any place in Germany that’s so kid-unfriendly like this one. The way she treated us was unacceptable. My kid felt very sad after that and we decided to look for a different cafe in the future. If you have a kid, do not go there!

If you want to be treated badly, come to this place. I do not know if the saleswoman is a racist or if she treats everybody the same way, but it is definitely not a nice experience. I asked her something in German and she realized that it is not my languague, so she said: "Oh Gott, Du musst Deutsch lernen" (oh God, you must learn German) and after that, she continued with that attitude and was super rude all the time. However, this is not the first time that she was like that with me. One year ago, I was having a capuccino there, when I asked for another one, she asked me if I was not going to leave the place!!! (That day I thought that she had a bad day). But when you are treated like that twice, you know that it is not a matter of a bad day. Please, do not go through it, there are many places in Munich where you can have a very good experience. Do not waste your time and money here.
