Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

One of the best bakeries in Munich, their croissants, pain au chocolat/ suisse are also excellent and would easily rival a quality bakery in Paris. Queues can be a bit long at times but it’s worth the wait

Literally the best pain au chocolat I have had in my life! No joke! It is worth every cent. Aside from that, service was super kind and the store per se, the smell in there and being able to see how they do everything, makes it feel very special. Happy to contribute to such a beautiful project

Very delicious! Had the pistachio pain de suisse, flaky, well stuffed, a bit salty as well, amazing! Also had a cardamom bun, very fluffy light dough and good filling. Really good quality products! Coffee was delicious too, very carefully made.

BrotRaum is a great biobakery! Everything is made fresh, and you can see the baking process, which adds a lot of trust and authenticity. Simple, honest products, done properly.

This place has one of my favorite pain au chocolat and baked goods! Everything is always fresh, and you can watch them baking everything right in front of you. The recent renovation is very nice and simple, suitable for two people to enjoy a coffee together. The service is always friendly and they speak English which is a plus for expats/tourists. Whenever I’m nearby, I make sure to stop by for their fresh, crunchy croissants! 🥐
