Located at Kreuzstraße 1, 80331 München, Julius Brantner Brothandwerk Brezelbackstube - Altstadt operates as a bäckereien serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–6:30 pm. It is closed on Monday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Julius Brantner Brothandwerk Brezelbackstube - Altstadt on 089 215280990; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp. Its website is julius-brantner.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 582 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded bäckereien & konditoreien in München.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

I discovered Julius Brantner last summer together with my boyfriend when we were doing our“Munich croissant hop” and both fell in love with this one. After very unserious reviewing we decided this is IT! The best croissant in town! Having a croissant on a Friday or Saturday morning every time he visits me from abroad became an important ritual for both of us. For a lazy and home buddy couple like us, this special croissant magically dragged us from our bed and made us go out in the morning. But sadly recently I have been very disappointed with the croissant quality. I have been trying for weeks on my own. Every Friday I would come here and grab one croissant before work. And all of them turned out to be oily, saggy, wet and flat buns. I understand some review talking about it being too “buttery” because that’s exactly the reason I fell in love with it. But this is not buttery anymore. It tastes like wet dough with melted butter. When I took the croissant out of the paper bag it lost its spindle shape and became deflated. I still love this place for its dedication for bread making but I really hope this saggy problem for croissant gets solved soon.

Okay so the smell of fresh bread when you walk in already tells the story and is honestly unbeatable. I tried the pistachio pastry and the pretzel. I don’t eat many pretzels but rated it highly. The pistachio pastry was so good I could eat it everyday - a must try.

Found this bakery through recommendations from local friends and honestly wondered how good bread or sourdough could really be. On a rainy day, I stopped by and picked up their Wednesday specials and a loaf of bread. The pretzel was excellent—dense and satisfying, with chewy thicker sections and crispy thinner edges. The salt was well-balanced and not overpowering. The cinnamon cardamom bun was also good, especially since it wasn't too sweet, though I would have preferred a stronger cinnamon aroma. The real highlight was the Bio Brothandwerk 25. I used it for avocado toast at home, and the texture and aroma were outstanding. It's the kind of bread that tastes amazing even on its own. The coffee was just okay. Unfortunately, they use the same paper lid as LAP, which has a noticeable taste that I find unpleasant and that takes away from the coffee experience. Overall, the bread alone is worth the visit, and I'll definitely be back to try more.

Amazing bakery, 1 of the best pain au chocolat I had so far in my life! Fantastic dough, well stuffed, crunchy and soft, dreamy. Also had few other items all great quality!

I was there 2 minutes before opening, and saw a line of locals queuing outside. When the door opens, the staff handed a dad (brought his children along) with a bag of baked goods - I had some high expectations. While waiting in line, I asked the girl in front of me for some recommendations. She said the pretzels is must have because I am in Germany, and the croissants. Unfortunately the croissants were not ready yet so I ordered a pretzel to start. The texture was perfect, crunchy but not hard, soft inside, it carries a “baked” flavour, not to be mistaken as burnt. I strolled around the area and went back in 10 minutes for the croissant, the girl I met earlier also came back for her morning treat. That croissant is special - and this is coming from some one who have tried croissants in every country visited (other than Italy). I like the weight, very substantial meaning not airy and it is made of many layers, very flaky but solid. The butter in this taste just right for me, not as buttery as French ones I’ve tried, and noticeably more than average. In photos they didn’t look that great, but I have been disappointed by many beautiful looking croissants, the taste would matter more.
