About Claude & Julien
Located at Elsässer Str. 25, 81667 München-Au-Haidhausen, Claude & Julien operates as a bäckereien serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under café, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.
Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.
Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 7 am–3 pm. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 0158 88364697. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is facebook.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 506 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded bäckereien & konditoreien in München.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Details on this page come from public sources and may change; confirm anything important by phone before relying on it. Business owners can claim the listing to keep it up to date.

The pastries don’t live up to the hype. They lacked flavour, are bland, and the butter had an off taste that was hard to ignore. For the price point, I expected way more, the value simply isn’t there. I was hoping for something closer to the real thing you can find in France, but left feeling disappointed.

Nice French bakery in Munich. The pastries (chocolate tart, lemon tart, raspberry tart, and Paris-Brest) are good — classic and well made, similar to what you would find in a bakery in France. The viennoiseries are also good, with a nice flaky texture and crunch. The shop is quite small, so it’s better to come early for the best selection.

Fantastic pastries that may well transport you straight to France. Looking for good bakery options early in the morning and was glad to have found this gem. Pistachio croissant was delicate and flaky in the right ways, but I would have hoped for more pistachio cream filling. Brioche was yummy too! Nevertheless I'd still recommend this place. Skip the other bakeries and chain stores near the station and walk over instead, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I finally found a puff pastry of decent quality in this city! The croissant and pan au chocolat are just unparalleled, just look at those layers! They taste wonderful too, it's very delicate and buttery. I learned to work with puff pastry myself, I know how painstaking a process it is, so it's especially valuable to find a bakery whose pastry chefs keep high quality standards. I'll be happy to stop by again and try other goodies!;)

The macarons are so good here. I tried the the heart-formed one with raspberries. My favourite macarons allover Munich. I have been here at 1 pm so may be this is why the croissant was already a bit dry for my taste. Lovely 70’s and 80’s American music and free WiFi. I also recommend the espresso macchiato here and the lemon madeleines and tartelettes looked yummy. High chairs available inside with some books if you need some reading with your coffee croissant breakfast. Outside some tables also for the sunny days. 2,30 for the macaron 2,40 for the espresso macchiato 2,50 for the croissant 4,30 for a fruits tartelette 5,30 for leek tarte
