A true bread temple, their bread is unbeatable, and their service is friendly and professional, the attendants know their bread and can tell you about the quality of everything that comes out of their oven.

I made a quick stop here to make my (Italian) parents try krapfen for the first time. It was a pleasant experience. We tried the beeren, pudding, and eierlikör krapfen and they were delicious. It’s also possible to get some hot beverages and sit at one of the few small tables inside the store. Highly recommend it for such occasions.

I have been here 5 times between Aug 1 and 8; I only just discovered it on the 1st so should tell you enough of how good this place is! Haidhausen is lucky in our access to great bakeries. There are at least 2 phenomenal ones, another 4 very good ones, and a general smattering of others. Yet Schifferl has found itself easily fitting into the top category by virtue of doing what all the others struggle to do - having both great bread AND sweet delights (disclaimer: have yet to try the sandwiches so cannot comment, but I’m sure they’re great too). So what can one eat 5 days nearly in a row? Let me share! Donautaler (Brot) - one of their well featured breads. It has a smooth rye flavor that even if rye isn’t your cup of tea you’ll be sure to enjoy. We ended up getting 500g for two of us, so took us a while to get through it, BUT it stayed fresh for the 5+ days we had it. Another merit for this bakery. (As a disclaimer, I do love rye bread.) Breze - You’ve never had a more perfect Breze. Truly! It has the right balance of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
