We visited Max Stark three times during our stay in Cologne, and that probably says everything. We loved it so much that we kept coming back. The Kölsch beer was great, the apple pancakes were delicious, and the turkey schnitzel with fried potatoes and mushrooms was honestly one of the best meals we had on our trip. The portions were huge, everything was full of flavor, and the prices were much lower than we expected for the quality and quantity of food. What really stood out, though, was the service. By our third visit, one of the waitresses remembered us, our usual drinks, and even that we paid by card, which was such a nice personal touch and made us feel genuinely welcome. The whole team was friendly, attentive, and hospitable, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping for in a traditional Cologne pub. We would happily come back and highly recommend Max Stark to anyone visiting Cologne.

We visited this place because of all the positive reviews. It required some walking from the city center around 15-20 minutes. We had lunch there and we sat immediately, no wait. The menu had many local dishes. I ordered a schnitzel, the portion was big and the price reasonable but it was a but heavy for me. I would like to try more of the dishes on the menu tho. Nice beer but the glasses were quite small.

Friendly service (available English menu), super packed place with locals (we didn't have reservations and had to wait but it was worth it!). Very2 delicious food, we really liked the spitzkohlroulade with the butterkartoffeln, ochsenbrusct, and Jägerschnitzel (magical!) and definitely highly recommend for a visit when you are in Cologne to try this local classic food in this vintage pub!!

Easily one of the best Restaurants we have eaten while traveling. The Paffgen Kolsch on tap is an exceptional beer 🍺 it leaves an amazing after taste. After that we tried the dishes of the day and they were exceptional and fresh.We also got sauteed mushrooms with garlic and sour creme and a seasonal salad, they were amazing as well . All in all we are not easily impressed but this restaurant is a must visit in Koln.

Wow, we are still sitting here enjoying some great Kölsch beer after eating. This place didn't disappoint at all. Even came back and ordered some thing different. Food is great. I have not been to Germany in years and was longing for some authentic Jagerschitzal. It was better than I remembered. Everything was fresh and hot, service was fast and the Paffgen style of kölsch is amazing still. I would recommend making reservations after 4-430. Place was packed at 230 PM.
