Located at Görresstraße 38, 80798 München-Maxvorstadt, Wirtshaus Görreshof operates as a deutsche serving München in Bayern. Google also lists it under biergarten, deutsches restaurant, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.
For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.
Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–12 am. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 20209550. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is goerreshof.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 3,759 reviews, which is a strong result for a deutsche in München and suggests consistent service.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

The atmosphere is pleasant, but we waited more than an hour for the dessert and fries. In the end, we only had the dessert, while the fries still had not arrived, so we cancelled the order. Unfortunately, the dessert was nothing special and definitely not worth such a long wait.

I decided to go to the beer garden on a lovely summers evening. I ordered the cheese and onion schnitzel which whilst was tasty didn’t feel it was anything special. The service was great the staff were friendly and the beer tasted great. My only complaint was that there were a lot of flies in the area which we eating was not desirable. I appreciate this is something beyond the control of the establishment but it is worth noting as some people may choose not to eat you based on this.

Light, crisp schnitzel with a batter that doesn’t weigh you down! The lemon and horseradish cut through perfectly and make the whole dish feel far more refreshing than you’d expect. On a sweltering 36-degree afternoon in Munich, this was a retreat to deliciousness. The hostess were warm and welcoming, it’s this kind of service that makes a casual lunch feel looked after. Simple food, done the Deutsch way.

We stayed in Munich for four nights and ended up visiting Görreshof on all four days. We tried a variety of dishes, and every single one was excellent. Each visit left us wanting to come back again. The courtyard was especially pleasant during the hot weather, with plenty of shade and a nice breeze. The service was outstanding throughout - friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic German food in Munich.

We came on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant wasn't too full. We got a spot right away. We ordered the Munich schnitzel, the pork knuckle with potato dumpling and for dessert the kaiserschmarrn. The schnitzel was the best thing we had. It was crispy on the outside and went well with the potatoes. The pork knuckle was dry at some parts and moist at others. The crispy outside was too crunchy for me. For me personally I didn't enjoy the potato dumplings. But the portion are very generous. The dessert was a bit on the sweeter side. You can get it with raisins or without. We got it with as its traditionally served with. It adds that extra chew. It goes well with the apple sauce and the rhubarb sauce. Service was really nice. They checked up on us a few times. They spoke perfect English. Food came out fast. The bathroom was also really clean and had all the feminine hygiene products you would need. There's also magazine available in there. Overall food is not bad but not great either. Atmosphere is great and service is good.
