For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

The local German restaurant served up the finest German cuisine I've ever tasted. The duck was a standout dish, incredibly juicy and tender. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere, bathed in warm yellow light, created the perfect setting for a delightful evening, especially on a chilly night.

A good lunch in a fine restaurant. There is a working fireplace what was not only enchanted the atmosphere, but gave extra warmth. Edit: Returning for dinner a few days later, I chosed 1/4 duck. I asked the waitress which part will be in the order. The given aswer that I can chose which part would like to eat. I chosen duck breast, but recieved the "leg part". The taste was good, but I feels myself cheated because the option to choose was an illusion. I know if I chose the 1/2 one I get both, but why order more than I can eat. Also the waiter (in civil dress) was way more overprotective what should be. I felt a uncomfortable because it felt like he did not wanted to the waitress serve my table so he brought my food and drinks 90% of the time.

Wonderful and cozy restaurant with nice ambiance. So glad we took a recommendation from a local to eat here. The Farmer’s Duck was crispy on the outside and tender inside which works well with the sauce. The Schnitzel variations are tasty.
