Located at Augustenstraße 52, 80333 München, Tante Emma Café und Bistro operates as a café serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under bistro, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 9 am–12 am. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 23249515. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, tante-emma-bistro.de.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 154 reviews, which is a strong result for a café in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

A charming and cozy café. One of the unique things about it was that they served the tea in a thermos, which was a nice touch. We ordered black tea and cake. The fruit cheesecake was excellent—really delicious, in my opinion. The other cake (the chocolate cake) was a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, it’s a beautiful and inviting place with a lovely atmosphere. The total bill for our table came to €19, which was quite reasonable for everything we ordered.

Nice cozy atmosphere with peculiar taste for furniture and style. Been there twice with friends and enjoyed it every time. There's a range of options for the cake 🍰 and the service is amazing as well. Would probably keep going there until I finish trying out all the cake 🍰options 😋🫣

We were there for a quick pick me up after shopping in the city. The place looks cozy and warm. When we came, the floor was clearly very dirty and not even with small crumbles, but all sorts of foods, paper and furniture also had crumbles. The table was wet and you can also see in the picture that the teapot used for holding the cutlery and napkins is clearly broken on the bottom. Not that it impeeds it from working holding the cutlery but it was just broken and they chose to leave it like that. If a kid grabs it, can be sharp. Talk about presentation and first impression of a place. There was also a piece of dirty lettuce stuck on the menus we received, again showing how dirty they keep the things handed to customers. Photo attached. I asked the young blonde waitress with the glasses if she could at least wipe the table as it was wet and she said yes, in a bit. She never came back. She went out multiple times to chat with other people, she even put her jacket on. Only 4-5 tables had customers inside so it was not hectic. I guess that is why attitude was like having a break. The taste of coffee and cakes was very good. Felt fresh, moist inside and had good taste. Unfortunately one

This place was amazing! We had omelettes and honestly the portion was very generous and it tasted great. We also had a cheese plate with good cheese as well as a focaccia that was ver neatly prepped. We also had some cake that was just out of this world. We had the Cheesecake apricot crumble (11/10), Apricot lavender cake (9/10) and they also gave us a complimentary Blueberry white chocolate cake(10/10). Also for vegans and vegetarians out there this place also has vegan friendly cakes. Overall this place was a 10/10 but for me I would personally come all the way to Germany just for this cafe and the Cheesecake crumble. We came back to the cafe today, this time we got 2 of the Apricot cheesecake crumbles and 1 Berries cheesecake curd. Still both are out of this world. However my personal favorite is still the Apricot cheesecake crumble😋😋😋.

I think this place is underrated! The atmosphere and anterior is amazing, it feels cozy but not hullabaloo! Cakes were delightful and they had vegan options (although I’m not vegan). Coffee was also good. I should also try the food once.
