For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

Opening hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 8:30 am–6:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 23029262. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is story-cafe-muenchen.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 257 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect before you commit to a visit.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

The café is beautiful, cozy, and filled with lovely artwork. The atmosphere is definitely its strongest point. Unfortunately, the coffee was just average and lacked flavor. The service was also mediocre, and the staff’s overall presentation seemed unprofessional. I ordered the avocado bagel, and it was one of the most disappointing café meals I’ve had. The bagel bread itself was fresh and delicious, but everything on top of it was terrible. The avocado was partially black, tasted old, and seemed like it had been frozen and made with poor-quality ingredients. The fried egg looked poorly cooked, and the yolk didn’t look fresh at all. The cream cheese had a horrible sour taste. There was also a clear, jelly-like liquid in the middle, which looked very unappetizing and made me question whether it was still safe to serve. Overall, the food quality did not match the atmosphere. I left feeling very disappointed and would not recommend this place.

I visited Story Café München on a Wednesday morning and had a great experience. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and even brought a bit of humor, which made the visit especially enjoyable. I was honestly surprised to read some of the negative reviews, as my experience was the complete opposite. The café also has a very cozy atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to relax. I would definitely recommend coming here.

The food and drinks are not good. Ok for doing some pc work. But it’s a bit noisy sometimes.

Very glad this comfy cafe opened up here. I can see myself as a frequent customer when I want to just chill for a second away from work, or meet colleagues and friends in a more relaxed setting. Attentive service from the owner/manager. Very nice lady. They have a collection of pastries and cakes that look promising. We had gratins and Flammkuchen for lunch. Freshly made and piping hot. We got a tasty little salad and some bread as well. Felt very ceremonial for a quick lunch.

The space is bigger than the earlier shop. You’ve time, space to do your stuff, but it’s getting too crowded recently. Their sweets and snacks are good. The staff are polite. And they have a small, cozy backyard space, although I was told I cannot use the backyard when I asked to sir outside!
