Eating out in Germany runs from a quick Döner at an Imbiss to a long evening in a Gasthaus, and a listing like this one is best judged on freshness, turnover and how consistent the reviews are rather than on decor. Lunch menus (Mittagstisch) are usually the best value, menu prices already include 19% VAT and service, and many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Bakeries open early and are the one shop you can count on for a Sunday morning.
Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11:00–01:00. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 527488. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 6,394 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded deutsche & regionale küche in München.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around München is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Good place to have a schnitzel. I'd recommend you take the potatoes, not the fries. You also get a salad on the house, which was a nice touch.

A full restaurant on a Monday is always a good sign. Huge portions, attentive service and a bustling atmosphere. Not a quiet restaurant by any means. Schnitzel great (massive), steak highly recommended. Suggest to book in advance for evening dining.

Very nice place for an authentic Bavarian dinner! We booked through the website and everything was perfect. We had a delicious Schnitzel and a great Currywurst. For dessert, the Apple Strudel was amazing! 🥨🍎✨

We stopped by Steinheil 16 for lunch and were greeted by a busy, energetic atmosphere that instantly set the tone. The restaurant had a great buzz, with tables full and a steady flow of locals and visitors alike—always a good sign when you’re searching for an authentic spot to eat in Munich. For my meal, I went for the Wiener Schnitzel, and it absolutely delivered. The portion was generous, the coating perfectly crisp, and the meat inside was tender and full of flavour. It was a classic done right—simple, satisfying, and exactly what you hope for when ordering schnitzel in Bavaria. My wife chose the chilli, which was equally impressive. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and packed with flavour, making it a great alternative to the more traditional dishes on the menu. Despite the lunchtime rush, the service was quick and friendly. The staff handled the busy room effortlessly, and our food arrived promptly without feeling rushed. Overall, Steinheil 16 is a must-try when visiting Munich—great food, generous portions, and a lively local vibe that makes the whole experience even better. Perfect for a relaxed but satisfying lunch in the city.

Steinheil 16 – A Must-Visit for Schnitzel Lovers in Munich Pork schnitzel has been one of the dishes I’ve been looking forward to on this trip — and Steinheil 16 didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is cozy and lively, perfect for gathering with a small group of friends (no more than 4 people), since finding a table can be tough. Reservation is highly recommended — walk-in chances are quite low. We booked for 5:30 pm on a Sunday but arrived early at 4:00 pm and waited about 30 minutes for a walk-in table. The restaurant was completely packed both inside and outside, which already told us how popular this place is. We ordered the pork schnitzel with potato salad and curried sausage. The schnitzel was absolutely worth the wait — thin, crispy, and delicious. But the portion is huge — definitely bigger than what most Asians could comfortably finish in one sitting. The curry sausage was superb too, a little on the salty side, but it pairs perfectly with beer. Interestingly, we seemed to be the only Asian guests in the restaurant, which is a good sign that this is a local favorite spot rather than a tourist trap. If you’re in Munich and want a truly local schnitzel experience, Steinhe
