Passau is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Passau is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

On the river side of the Scheiblingsturm, the waters rise and swallow the banks, turning stone and current into one restless mirror.

a defense/storage tower from the medieval ages. it has survived the city fire and got its new looks after massive renovation. today serves as a seminar for youth club but still an awesome sightseeing on the shore of the river.

Passau is known as the 'City of Three Rivers' (Dreiflüssestadt) as it sits on the confluence of Inn and Ilz into the Danube. The German-Austrian border runs down the middle of the Inn river until it gets to Passau where the Germans have both sides of the bank.

Nice to take a walk and recommend catching a glimpse of the town's general breeze and feeling. On sunny weather, it's a pleasure to just linger a while on the promenade.
