About Restaurant Gabelspiel

Restaurant Gabelspiel is a restaurant in München, Bayern. It is listed at Zehentbauernstraße 20, 81539 München-Obergiesing-Fasangarten, which places it among the local businesses of München that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as gourmetrestaurant, restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

Opening hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 6:30 pm–12 am. Note that it does not open on Monday, Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Restaurant Gabelspiel on 089 12253940; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses also take enquiries and bookings by e-mail or WhatsApp. Its website is restaurant-gabelspiel.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 346 reviews, which is a strong result for a restaurant in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

We visited Gabelspiel during a short trip to Munich to round off the day and celebrate a birthday. Rather understated from the outside, the restaurant impresses inside with its small, stylish, and pleasantly intimate atmosphere. The lighting is deliberately dim, coming mainly from small table lamps. We especially appreciated the relaxed and informal ambience. There was no unnecessary fuss before getting started. The decision between six or seven courses could be made individually after the main course - a very pleasant and straightforward approach. Every course was carefully considered, well balanced, and perfectly coordinated. We were particularly impressed by the jus served with almost every course. They were precise in flavour, perfectly matched to the individual ingredients, and a true highlight of the menu for us. In our view, the restaurant fully deserves its Michelin star - we had a wonderful evening. Nevertheless, we would like to mention a few minor points. The notes we had provided in advance were handled very well, and everything seemed highly organised. However, we were not asked on site whether the menu suited us, nor were there any choices, additional courses, or o

We visited Gabelspiel during our stay in Munich, and it turned out to be a memorable culinary experience. The restaurant offers a refreshing take on fine dining – less about formality and more about the interplay between tradition and bold creativity. The space is small, dimly lit, and quite intimate, creating a relaxed and informal atmosphere. At times, however, the service felt slightly too casual, bordering on overly familiar. The tasting menu (6 or 7 courses) is thoughtfully curated and feels like a well-directed performance. Dishes range from creative interpretations such as a “vegetarian foie gras” to game with unexpected flavor contrasts. Overall, the cuisine is refined and imaginative, although a few of the sauces leaned a bit too salty for our taste. Behind the concept is chef Florian Berger, whose style clearly reflects both technical precision and artistic vision. His approach combines Austrian roots with modern culinary influences, focusing on seasonal, local ingredients and clean, expressive flavors. The Michelin star is well deserved. Gabelspiel is a place for those seeking a different and memorable culinary experience. We would recommend it, especially if you enjoy b

This was my first experience in a michelin starred restaurant. The food was delicious and plated wonderfully. My favorite dish was the steamed egg with sauce on top. The texture was incredibly soft worth food flavor.

Very interesting and surprising restaurant. Definitely one of the best fine dining experiences you can find in Munich nowadays. The service is kind, professional and very well organized but the food is definitely the star of the show as the name of the restaurant suggests; delicious, extremely well presented and creative with particular attention to the vegetable part of every dish. Faux gras, Dumpling and So a Kas are the extremely strong highlights of a well designed Menu. (Fun fact: So a Kas was so amazing we had to ask for a second round, that the Chef gently offered us.) I chose the non-alcoholic pairing and it was simply outstanding: every drink was carefully well designed and the combinations were so spot on that at least in one case (Karfiol) the Drink made the dish sky rocket high to altitudes that the dish alone (in my opinion of course) could not reach. So the pairing is absolutely recommended as important part of the experience. Chef Florian personally greeted me and my sous-chef at the end of the tasting menu and introduced us to his Team while chatting friendly with us. Highly recommended. Great Value-for-Money. I will come back for sure.

Lovely place with intimate seating. One main room (about 8-10 tables) and one side room (about 3 tables). The service is spotless and very well in tune with and the food is very creative, tasty and thoughtful. One of the better experiences so far in a Munich fine dining restaurant. Minor comments - pending the crowd it can get pretty noisy in there and the service could get a touch more personalized but that may be a preference question. Def a great restaurant place to dine - keep it up. Dishes in photos in order of the menu.
