Fantastic free museum for aviation and history enthusiasts! Entry and parking are completely free, and Hangar 3 offers an amazingly detailed, educational look at aircraft and military vehicles from the World Wars. It's also great for dog owners, dogs on leads are welcome across the spacious outdoor grounds (though not inside the hangars). Highly recommended!

We arrived and were greeted, and shown where to go and what order is best to view the place. We walked past a row of maybe 20 jets from the cold war era. They were really cool to see, with interesting history. The main part was the indoors hangar, where we saw a mig29, a messerschmitt comet, and lots of old planes from the ww2 era. There was a part with different objects from ww1 like daggers and uniforms, there was a snack bar, and there was lots of cool and interesting historical info. We then walked to the other side of the museum where we saw helicopters and radars and SAM systems. Overall, it was a really pleasant, interesting and enjoyable museum. 10/10.

Great museum where you can see numerous aircraft. In general it is devoted to aviation but there is also opportunity to see some other things including the land defence. Except the exibition in open space, one of the hangar also have inside exibition that includes permanent exibition on german I and IIWW as well the additional space inside in which you can see different exibutions ie special that are changing. Take a time to visit it if you are near. During the summer there is also small stand with very delicous cookes and great coffie. The personal is also very helpfull.

Great place to visit for anyone interested in aviation or modern German history. At the entrance we were greeted by a friendly person who gave us a map and instructed us where to park, there was no admission fee. Outside there are many cold war era planes - some of them have wear of standing in the sun but it is great to see both west- and east German planes, along with some French and British planes as well. Inside hangar 3 a varied selection from planes from throughout aviation history are kept in beautiful condition. This includes a Tornado, multiple WW2 planes, a Fairey Gannett, and a Mig 29. The hangar also has a section that explains the history of Gatow airfield, in particular the role it played for the air bridge during the blockade of Berlin. There is a lot to see, and I am surprised it was not busy at all on a Saturday. It is for free, but I honestly would not mind paying an admission fee - perhaps that could even be used to bring back some of the outdoor planes to pristine condition to join hangar 3.

Amazing array of aircraft and information across several time periods. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. From Spandau station the public transport is very easy as there is a direct local bus and then a 10-20 minute walk through a quiet neighbourhood to the airfield and museum. It was a shame it was raining during our visit as we could have spent more time reading and looking at the outside planes.
