About Mai Garten am Gärtnerplatz

Located at Buttermelcherstraße 5, 80469 München-Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt, Mai Garten am Gärtnerplatz operates as a restaurant serving München in Bayern. For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

Opening hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 am–3 pm. It is closed on Sunday. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 24211197. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. Its website is mai-garten.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 415 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded restaurants in München.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The food wasnt particularly memorable, nor was it especially affordable. It was decent enough to eat, but not something I’d crave or return for. However, the service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly and fluent in both English and German. While there’s often a stereotype that Chinese restaurants can be unfriendly, the team here welcomed me very warmly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also perfect.

Not recommended. With the same amount of money you deserve much better Chinese Food. Generally it is very costly but the taste is average level among the Chinese Restaurants in Germany; and the portion of each dish is very small. Ordered 2 dishes. Ehepaar-Lungenstückchen 夫妻肺片: About 12.9Euro; Very small portion and the taste is far away from real Chinese taste;A bit hard and not tasty; Frittierter Schweinelachs süßsauer 锅包肉:22.9Euro; 8 pieces of thin "Schweinelachs" and taste a little bitter due to over-fried; The rice is also charged additionally: 1.5Euro for each dish.

In this small, authentic Chinese restaurant, you will experience a warm welcome and attentive service right from the start. The atmosphere of the restaurant reflects Chinese culture, with subtle decorations and pleasant background music. The service is not only polite, but also very attentive. The service are always ready to make recommendations and help with the selection of dishes. This personal touch helps to make the visit a special experience. As far as the food is concerned, great importance is attached to tradition and authenticity. The menu offers a wide selection of Chinese dishes. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and authentically reflect the diversity of Chinese cuisine. The attention to detail in the presentation of the dishes is particularly impressive. All in all, the small Chinese restaurant not only offers culinary highlights, but also an all-round successful experience for lovers of Chinese cuisine. The combination of warm hospitality, traditional atmosphere and exquisite food makes this place a recommendation for anyone who wants to experience an authentic culinary journey.

Very friendly staff but the food was sadly only average. Whilst the flavor of the Xiao Long Bao we’re good, the skin was too thick. Two out of the four main dishes that we ordered lacked in flavor, e.g., the spicy aubergines were in fact almost sweet.

Food was superb. 3G protocols inside, so one should be vaccinated, or tested or genesen. Food...so authentic, very delish, refreshing, balanced between strong flavor and veggies! so recommended for Chinese cuisine!!! Update 26.2.22 I came with my friends and we ate a lot of new menu like sichuan Aubergine, mapo Tofu, dampf fish and above all the dessert were very good!!!! Made especially from the nice Chef!!!! So happy to come again :)
