When booking accommodation or travel services in Germany, confirm the check-in window, whether the rate includes breakfast and the local city tax (Kurtaxe or Bettensteuer), and what the cancellation terms are; pensions and Gasthöfe are often family-run and appreciate notice. Nürnberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Air conditioning was broken for duration of my stay - during a heatwave. They were largely dismissive and just offered a fan and free car parking; or moving to their cheaper sister hotel. Oh I nearly forgot the power cut we’re currently experiencing…. Avoid at all costs - this hotel is not run by professionals. I found the staff to be dismissive and they had plenty of opportunity to tell us in advance of the issue and to give us a chance to cancel. I ended up incurring additional cost by checking into the infinitely superior Park Plaza across the road. Avoid at all costs and noted the standard blah blah response of the hotel to my original note.

I stayed two nights at the Leonardo Royal Nürnberg and left genuinely impressed. The location is excellent and easy to get around the city without any hassle. But what really made the stay was the staff. Friendly, attentive, and warm without being over the top. You could tell they actually cared. I would come back without hesitation.

This was our first time in Germany for our honeymoon. Although it was springtime, it was still a bit chilly. However, the hotel was very close to the train station, making it very convenient. The front desk and housekeeping staff were incredibly friendly; they even helped us check in early – we were so grateful! Entering the room was an even bigger surprise; the hotel had prepared small gifts to celebrate our honeymoon. We felt so warm and happy from the moment we stepped inside. Thank you so much!
