About Kaiserburg-Museum

Located at Burg 18, 90403 Nürnberg, Kaiserburg-Museum operates as a museen serving Nürnberg in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Entertainment and cultural venues fill up at weekends, on public holidays and during school holidays, so check opening times and book tickets ahead where possible. Most museums close on Mondays, many state theatres and opera houses pause over the summer, and the Kulturpass gives 18-year-olds a budget to spend on culture. Ask about age limits and whether photography is allowed.

Opening hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 10 am–4 pm. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. Its website is kaiserburg-nuernberg.de, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 44 reviews, which is a strong result for a museen in Nürnberg and suggests consistent service.

Nürnberg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Nürnberg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

It's a truly beautiful museum. You can find artifacts related to the era of the old German principalities. Artifacts from the feudal period in Germany are particularly well placed and preserved in a manner appropriate to their historical scale. I highly recommend visiting this place, especially for those traveling to Nuremberg.

Curious little museum in the Imperial Castle with self-guided tour. Notes in English and German made the tour informative. Good to visit if you have extra hour to spend.

The Kaiserburg-Museum inside Nuremberg’s Imperial Castle brings the city’s medieval importance to life. Spread across historic castle halls, the exhibits cover imperial power, daily life, and military history. Highlights include ornate weapons and armor, intricate scientific instruments, detailed castle models, and treasures like gilded chalices. Frescoes and decorated ceilings add to the atmosphere, while the siege weapons on display illustrate the castle’s defensive role. It’s a well-curated museum that complements the architecture of the Kaiserburg itself, giving visitors context and depth to what they see outside.

Cheap and with a lot to offer. Not only can you go through the very old chapel and royal rooms, the exhibits take you on a great journey through history that touches on the castle itself, stages of the Holy Roman Empire, fireworks, weapons, wars and art.

The Kaiserburg-Museum, situated within the castle grounds, showcases a remarkable collection of medieval armor and weaponry. While it's a relatively small museum, its exhibits offer a glimpse into the fascinating world of medieval warfare. It’s not adapted for wheelchair users.
