For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 10 am–12 am. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 089 20181916. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, giesinger-garten.de.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 2,051 reviews, which is a strong result for a deutsche in München and suggests consistent service.
München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We had a fantastic time at this traditional restaurant in Munich. We ordered the goulash and the cordon bleu, and both dishes were absolutely delicious and well-portioned. A special shoutout to our waitress, Sarah, who was incredibly kind, helpful, and made us feel right at home. To finish the meal, we had the Kaiserschmarrn, you absolutely must try it! Highly recommended.

Having heard that Giesinger is the best German beer we went here to try it. Our only disappointment is that they don't serve it here. They do server Augustiner which is still my favorite German beer. Two of us ordered the Bratengröst'l mit Krautsalat. With the first bite I determined that I have a new favorite German food. Service, food and atmosphere were all excellent. I plan to come here again on my next visit to Germany.

Amazing local Bavarian food outside of the hustle and bustle of the city center. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered their pork schnitzel and substituted the fries for the potato salad. It also came with a small salad. My friend ordered their cordon bleu. For dessert we had they’d apple strudel that was hot and came with ice cream and whipping cream. With 4 beers. It was all 59 euros.

Came here for a proper Bavarian lunch. Despite the name (I think Giesinger is the neighborhood), this is an Augustiner-sponsored pub/tavern/biergarten. All of the Augustiner beers are available here, including the Pils and Weissbier in bottles that they pour into a proper glass. Their traditional menu is fantastic, with both the classic German dishes and some great regional meals, including a great seasonal menu. I had a bowl of chestnut cream soup which was simply incredible. Decided on the roast pork in dark beer gravy and sides of saurkraut and potato dumplings. Great vibe/atmosphere with ALL locals coming in for a beer and lunch. Local construction workers, older retired folks, young families. This is clearly a neighborhood institution.

Food and beer are both are both awesome! We had such a great time. We sat outside and the service was great. The beer is top notch. The food even better. We felt at home here and left very happy.
