For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 5:30–10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is 0931 2072410. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, franziskaner-wuerzburg.de.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 506 reviews, which is a strong result for a deutsche in Würzburg and suggests consistent service.
Würzburg is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. Getting around Würzburg is easiest by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus, all covered by the Deutschlandticket that is valid on local and regional transport across Bayern and beyond; parking in city centres is scarce and either paid or limited by Parkscheibe, so public transport or a bike is usually quicker than driving.

Amazing location in Würzburg! Few steps away from the city center, but more than worth the 5 min walk! Super authentic Frankonian Kitchen and probably the best Schäufele I’ve ever had.

despite getting there when kitchen was already closed, the lady was able to serve us with good typical German meat! recommended

My partner and I went for dinner the other day, and our experience could not have been better. It is a small but cozy place, and the waiter was extremely nice and friendly. She was really caring about us (whether we were comfortable, understanding the German menu, and enjoying). Then, the food was also very good: big portions, and everything very tasty indeed. The best point was without doubt the waiter, but anyway it was such a good experience, that if I could, I would go back again!
