This is an interesting fountain in front of Augsburg Cathedral. It is the work of Munich artist Josef Henselmann (1986) and features a group of bronze figures of the city's three patron saints. It is a nice monument to view before or after spending time in the cathedral. What you see is Bishop Ulrich (890-973AD) at centre. He is on horseback raising a cross in his right hand. At his side is Bishop Simpert (c. 750-807AD) who blesses a child on the ground while standing next to a wolf. On the other side of Ulrich is St. Afra (died c. 304AD) bound to a tree. The figures stand upon a granite base, in front of Ulrich are two fish head spouts spilling water into a triangular shaped basin.

Der Brunnen ist mit seinen drei Figuren ganz nett gestaltet und steht sehr repräsentativ vor dem Augsburger Dom. Die Bronzefiguren entstanden im Jahr 1986 und sind das Werk von Josef Henselmann (1898–1987). Sie zeigen den heilige Bischof Ulrich, die heilige Afra und den heilige Bischof Simpert. Meine Fotos stammen noch aus Oktober 2024, wo der Brunnen außer Betrieb war. Ich konnte sie leider erst jetzt hochladen, da sie auf einer defekten SD-Karte waren.

Der Dombrunnen zeigt die Heiligen Simpert und Ulrich, zwei bedeutende Bischöfe Augsburgs, als bronzene Statuen vor dem Dom.

Der Dombrunnen in Augsburg befindet sich im Süden des Ostchors des Augsburger Doms auf dem Domplatz und besteht aus einer Figurengruppe der drei Bistumspatrone Bischof Ulrich, Hl. Afra und Bischof Simpert
