For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 10 am–12 am. As with most places, expect changes around public holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. With 4.2 out of 5 on Google from 23,934 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for deutsche & regionale küche in München. German customers tend to review sparingly and critically, so a mid-range score with detailed comments is often a fair picture.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Being half-Asian, I didn't experience any sort of racism as described in quite a few of the reviews. The service was curt, but efficient for everyone (which I've experienced elsewhere in Germany too), which wasn't a problem for me. Otherwise, enjoyed the food, which came out quickly and was pretty tasty.

A true Munich classic, done right! Augustiner Stammhaus was an absolute highlight of our trip to Munich. The moment you walk in, you feel the charm of a genuine, historic beer hall, warm wood interiors, a lively buzzing atmosphere, and that unmistakable feeling of being somewhere authentic rather than touristy. Despite how large the space is, it still manages to feel welcoming and cozy. The food was outstanding across the board. We had the pork schnitzel, which was crispy, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. The goulash was rich and comforting, full of deep flavor. And the grilled sausage with sauerkraut was exactly what we were hoping for, hearty, well-seasoned, and a perfect showcase of traditional Bavarian cooking. Of course, no visit here is complete without the lager, and it did not disappoint. Smooth, fresh, and absolutely delicious, it paired perfectly with the food and the whole experience. If you're looking for a genuinely charming, unpretentious beer hall with excellent traditional food and great beer, Augustiner Stammhaus is a must-visit in Munich. We loved every minute and would go back in a heartbeat!

We're not really there. Bad service, waiters who see you're calling them and repeatedly ignore you, we ordered a bottle of water and the glasses never arrived. Poor food quality, nothing exceptional. Gulash with very hard meat, very heavy and hard potato dumpling. Restaurant not recommended

A historic brewery‑restaurant that celebrates traditional Bavarian craftsmanship. Here you’ll find classic, hearty dishes inspired by old beer‑hall culture, paired with beers brewed with generations of expertise. Warm atmosphere, authentic flavors, and a true taste of Bavaria in every visit.

An outstanding Bavarian dining experience! Augustiner Original Building truly captures the essence of traditional German hospitality. The atmosphere is warm and lively, with beautiful historic surroundings that make you feel part of something authentic and special. The food was excellent — hearty, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared and paired wonderfully with their fresh Augustiner beer. Service was friendly, efficient, and welcoming despite the restaurant being busy, which made the experience even better. If you’re looking for genuine Bavarian cuisine in a classic setting, this is definitely the place to go. I would happily return!
