München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. For directions in München, Google Maps and the DB Navigator app cover public transport times and walking routes, and most towns have well-marked cycle lanes. Local transport tickets must be bought or validated before boarding, and parking near busy streets is limited and metered.

A true Bavarian culinary landmark in Munich! The food was genuinely great; the schnitzel and beef ribeye were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Despite how busy it gets, the staff is very attentive and friendly. You must try their fresh beer while you're here. Highly recommended!

Place has two-side orientation so you can sit outside in shade in one or the other depending on the time of day. Aide towards the fountain is fresh and cool and presence of water is calming. This is one of the restaurants where both food and beer are really good. Service is good yet don't expect smiles all over or compromise on the system. You're in Germany after all. It's all business. Bottom line is that we had lunch or dinner in all other restaurants in the square and this one is the best for food, service and beer.

We enjoyed a mid afternoon meal of Spraetzle with the fresh garden salad. The portions were plentiful, hot and fresh making us pleased with our choice. There had been a shower immediately prior to our arrival and though the staff was busy drying chairs, they were also attentive and friendly. We appreciated their patience with us and greatly enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

We had a wonderful Bavarian dining experience at Augustiner Klosterwirt. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday and were glad to beat the queues, as the restaurant became much busier shortly after. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, with a very authentic Bavarian feel. We ordered the white sausages, half pork knuckle, veal schnitzel, and the Augustiner Hell house beer. Everything was excellent. The pork knuckle was the highlight for us — the skin was exceptionally crispy while the meat inside remained tender and flavourful. The white sausages were soft, delicate, and tasted very fresh, especially when paired with the sweet mustard. The veal schnitzel was also very well prepared, light and crispy without feeling oily. The Augustiner Hell complemented the meal perfectly and completed the traditional Munich dining experience. Service was efficient despite the growing crowd, and the overall experience felt very authentic rather than touristy. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Munich and wanting to enjoy classic Bavarian food in a warm and traditional setting. We would gladly return again.

Ate lunch here on Easter Saturday. Fantastic location and ambience. Traditional Bavarian restaurant with top notch food, beer and quick, friendly service. The Weiner Schnitzel here is fantastic, even better is the potato salad I had on the side. This is easily one of the best Schnitzels I have ate! I can also say the same for the Creme Brulée, I had for dessert. Fantastic! Beer here is fantastic too! I had a few pints of Radler along with the food. Might be busy at times due to it's popularity and location, however as a solo traveller, I had no issue sharing a table with random strangers. Excellent restaurant in a touristy area, which I highly recommend to anyone!
