About Augustiner Bräustuben

Located at Landsberger Str. 19, 80339 München, Augustiner Bräustuben operates as a deutsche serving München in Bayern. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. For a place to eat or drink in Germany, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open today (many restaurants keep a weekly Ruhetag), does it take reservations for dinner, and does the menu suit your group. Tipping is modest, rounding up or adding 5-10% when you pay, and while cards are accepted in most places, cash is still the safe choice at bakeries, Imbiss stands and beer gardens. Tap water is not served automatically, and bottles you take away carry a Pfand deposit.

Opening hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 10:00–00:00. Hours in Germany do change around public holidays, and many businesses close for a day or two over Christmas and Easter, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is 089 507047. Calling ahead is the norm in Germany for reservations and for confirming that a small business is open that day; e-mail or WhatsApp is the common alternative if you would rather write than speak. More information is available on its website, braeustuben.de.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 17,869 reviews, which is a strong result for a deutsche in München and suggests consistent service.

München is in Bayern, in the south, the country's industrial powerhouse around Munich and Stuttgart with the Alps and the Black Forest on the doorstep; winters bring snow and the occasional warm Föhn wind, summers are the warmest in Germany, and living costs are the highest. German addresses put the street name before the house number, followed by the five-digit postcode and the town, as in "Marienplatz 8, 80331 München". The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

It’s okay, but definitely very touristy. The service was fast, but extremely impersonal. When you enter, they simply point you toward a table and that’s pretty much it. For food, we ordered the “daily special” Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad. I’ve had my fair share of schnitzels, and unfortunately this one tasted more like a frozen, breaded chicken schnitzel than a proper Wiener Schnitzel. The potato salad was nothing special either. I understand that it’s a large restaurant and probably difficult to prepare everything from scratch, but this felt a little disappointing and, honestly, somewhat deceiving. Surprisingly, the Kaiserschmarrn was really good! It was fluffy, had a lovely flavor from the rum-soaked raisins, and came with two dips. As others have mentioned, the payment process is a bit strange. They show you the amount on an iPad and then simply walk away. Overall, it’s okay, but I’d probably recommend coming here for a beer rather than dinner.

Augustiner Bräustuben was unfortunately one of the biggest disappointments of our Munich trip. I really wanted to love this place given its reputation, but the experience fell far short. We ordered the pork knuckle, pretzel with beer cheese, and beer. The pork knuckle arrived cold and lacked flavor, while the pretzel didn’t seem particularly fresh either. The beer pour was especially disappointing—the amount of foam/head was ridiculous, and for a place associated with such a famous brewery, I expected a much better pour. The photos really speak for themselves. Service was the biggest issue. We repeatedly tried to get someone’s attention to place our order, but the servers seemed to avoid eye contact and kept waiting for someone else to help us. Even getting the check was a struggle—we eventually had to get up and go to a counter ourselves. It felt like the staff had little interest in actually serving the customers. The atmosphere itself has the traditional Bavarian beer hall feel, but unfortunately, the poor food, disappointing beer pour, and especially the terrible service completely overshadowed it. I really wanted to like this place, but based on our experience, there are m

I was always told that the food here was better than most beer halls in Munich. So I had to try it. I got a mixed meat plate; the Bierkutscherpfandl All of the meat tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. It was mostly dry, which was pretty disappointing. This brewery restaurant has become quite touristy. If you’re looking to try arguably the best beer in Munich and enjoy the vibes of a brewery, you’ll definitely have a good time. The food is okay, but nothing special.

One of the best restaurant in munich The Schweinhaxen (crispy pork knuckle) had a wonderfully crunchy skin and tender meat inside, though it was a bit on the chewy side. On the other hand, the No. 402 steak was disappointing. The beer served in large mugs was fantastic—honestly, you can't go wrong with any beer you order here, and they also offer great non-alcoholic options

Augustiner Bräustuben is a truly authentic Bavarian beer hall experience. The atmosphere has a slightly barracks-like character, which might feel unusual at first—perhaps especially for visitors—but it also adds to the traditional charm of the place. The large hall itself is impressive and lively. When we arrived it was completely full, and at first it seemed impossible to find a seat despite the enormous space. However, with a bit of persistence we managed to sit down. The waiters were moderately helpful in this process, but once we were seated the service became impressively fast. Both the drinks and the food arrived very quickly. We ordered the pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe) and Kaiserschmarrn, and both dishes were excellent. The pork knuckle in particular deserves special mention—the skin was perfectly crispy and absolutely delicious. We also tried the Helles beer. Even though I am not usually a beer drinker, it was memorably good and paired perfectly with the food. Overall, a great, authentic Bavarian experience with excellent food, very good beer, and surprisingly fast service once you find a seat. I would definitely recommend it.
