SIXT Autovermietung Köln Zentrum/Maritim Hotel

Pierre saved us and deserves a raise! We had rented an electric car but none of the charging stations in Europe accepted any of our 5 Canadian credit or debit cards (despite them working everywhere else). Pierre suggested we try the Aldi about 8 minutes away that accepts chip and pin instead of tap. This worked like a charm, and was the first time we were able to EASILY charge the car in a week. Thank you, Pierre!!

1 star Absolutely unacceptable experience with SIXT Cologne Center / Maritim Hotel. I had a booking for 11:00 pm at this location, explicitly presented as a 24-hour pickup / keybox pickup. SIXT accepted the reservation, later confirmed it, let me complete the full self check-in, and authorized both the rental amount and the security deposit. Once I arrived, the reality was this: counter closed, referral to the main station branch, that branch also closed, and at the keybox I was missing the required PIN / QR code that SIXT had never provided. The app kept referring me to a staff member on site — of course there was nobody there. What followed was nearly 2 hours of hotline calls, transfers, holding patterns, and no solution. In the end, despite having a confirmed and paid booking, I was left standing there at night with no vehicle. The real problem is not just a technical glitch. The real problem is that SIXT actively sells, confirms, and charges for late-night 24-hour pickup without making sure the process actually works or that there is any real escalation support available at night when the system fails. For me, this meant a failed onward journey, extra costs, wasted time, a

Rep was very quick to check me in. Overall Check-in process went very quick and easy; picking up the car was straightforward. Adapting to the car took a little bit, wish there was somebody on site to help out adjust the car and settings for the relevant language to speed up the process. Got the car in the advertised class, but wish I got the car that was modeled for the class.

I recently had the pleasure of renting a car from SIXT, and I must say, the experience was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional, making the entire process smooth and easy. They communicated perfectly in English, which made everything even more convenient for me. The car was in excellent condition, clean, and well-maintained. The customer service was outstanding, and they ensured I had everything I needed. I highly recommend SIXT for anyone looking for reliable and top-notch car rental services. I will definitely be using them again in the future!
