Lots of saints relics. Lots of gold and jewels. Could do with a little more detail or some QR codes to scan to fully understand the significance and history of the objects but an incredible collection nonetheless!

The Cathedral is above ground. The Treasury is below it, and that’s where the less obvious things are kept. Six vaulted rooms under the north side of the Cathedral, accessible from a separate entrance that most people miss. The collection spans 1,700 years — from late Roman objects to medieval goldsmithing to liturgical vestments that survived wars they had no reason to survive. The medieval reliquary work is the strongest part. There’s a level of technical precision in objects made in the 11th and 12th centuries that’s hard to process — the scale is small, the detail is not. The rooms themselves are right: low ceilings, stone, no unnecessary lighting drama. Combined ticket with the tower climb is €6. The Treasury takes 45 minutes if you’re actually looking. Most people spend fifteen. Don’t be most people.

Entrance was from within the chapel and does not match the Google pin. Struggled a bit but the visit was completely worthwhile. I did not get to see it in my previous visit to cologne. So glad I was able to this time round

The museum has 6 exhibition rooms that wouldn't take you longer than an hour to explore. Entrance is on the side of the cathedral. The collections are beautiful and invaluable. Worths th entrance fee.

Stunning collection of relics and treasures hidden underneath the cathedral! The entrance was located on the north side of the cathedral (the side of the cathedral facing the train station) and was easily accessible. I purchased the combined ticket for 6€ - for the Treasury and for the Tower - and after leaving my backpack in the locker room I dove into exploring the treasure rooms. The medieval vaulted rooms beneath the cathedral are hiding the largest and probably the most complex collection of art, relics and liturgical objects in the country. Somewhat the orientation in the treasury was not easy/clear to me, however I visited (not in following order) tree different sections that were worth to see - one containing the chalices, insignias, monstrances, crosses, relics and jewelry, other displaying statues and liturgical vestments (clothes), and finally a room which contained the wooden sarcophagus the golden Shrine of the Three Kings (the actuals Shrine is displayed inside the cathedral) and some manuscripts. It is a truly spectacular collection and surprisingly some of the objects are used in religious ceremonies until today. I spent at least an hour examining some of the obj
